Meet your farmers!
Mark Smith
Mark is our head farmer at Pittsburgher Highland Farms. Born and raised on a dairy farm in central Pennsylvania, he had a successful career in real estate development before returning to agriculture to start PHF in 2008. Back then, the herd was just a few purebred Highland cattle grazing on rented pasture. Mark knew he wanted to produce healthy beef at an affordable price for his Pittsburgh community in a way that is good for the animals and the land. Read more about Mark here!
Dana O’Connor
Dana originally was one of Pittsburgher Highland Farm’s first customers! She is our well-known face at the Bloomfield Farmer’s Market and is our organized manager of operations. Dana’s fascination with grass-fed beef grew from an interest in health and the role a nutritious diet plays in overall wellbeing. Dana partnered with the farm in 2014. Since then, the herd has almost tripled in size!
